What food will concessions offer at the NHL Winter Classic? Curious Texas heads to the Cotton Bowl - The Dallas Morning News

Fair Park and food is a much more common combination than hockey and the Cotton Bowl.

But what happens to the food menu when all four come together for Wednesday’s Winter Classic between the Stars and Predators at the Cotton Bowl?

Tha’s why Brad H. asked Curious Texas: “What food will concessions offer at the Cotton Bowl Stadium and Fair Park?”

Here is what Jay Satenspiel, senior vice president of operations, venue management and food services and hospitality for Spectra, the food services company tasked with handling the Winter Classic, said earlier this week.

Inside the Cotton Bowl

Since there are only four cooking stations in the Cotton Bowl, there will be outside vendors with stands on the concourses, both brick and mortar and temporary stands, Satenspiel said. That includes:

· Fletch, the pop-up corn dog and funnel cake restaurant. (Fletcher’s Original State Fair Corny Dogs will be available in the Midway.)

· Rudy’s Bar-B-Q

· Chili’s

· Dippin’ Dots

· Miss Piggy

· Mac Truck DFW

· Roasted nuts

There will also be 200 mobile vendors walking the stadium selling beer and Truly.

“When we do the Texas-Oklahoma game, we know there’s so much food outside that it makes no sense to really compete with the food outside,” Satenspiel said. “But this isn’t the State Fair, so we had to really adapt.”

Outside the Cotton Bowl

Nimitz Plaza, east of the stadium: There will be various stands selling brats, sausages, pizza, nachos, funnel cake fries, along with beer and Truly.

Cotton Bowl Plaza, west of the stadium: There will be stands selling BBQ, pizza, taco, burgers, chicken tenders plus a Truly bar.

Both plazas will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“We want to be able to give a fan who might say ‘Oh, let me go out here in between periods because maybe the lines aren’t as long’ and give them the opportunity to go outside and get something,” Satenspiel said.

There will also be food available in the Midway, but that is not run by Spectra.
