A local food truck has teamed up with a new brewery that will open in mid-January - Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Just Smokin' Barbecue, a popular food truck in Waukesha County, will have a permanent location soon.

According to owner Justin Kahle, Just Smokin' has teamed up with Steel Tank Brewing Co., which plans to open a taproom in mid-January at 1225 Robruck Drive,  Oconomowoc.

"We're out in Oconomowoc every Tuesday," Kahle said. "We try to be involved in every event we can out there. Jason (Radosevich) from Steel Tank Brewing Co. reached out to me. ... They didn't really want to have to rely on food and wanted to outsource it if they could. They thought it would be a good partnership."

Kahle has owned the food truck for three years and said a permanent location was part of his plan to grow the business. Just Smokin' will be working from the kitchen at the brewing company.

"A permanent location was kind of a goal because there are times we are out and people ask if we have a permanent spot," Kahle said. "Now you can fight the elements a little bit better when it's raining and cold. We can be open year-round."

A soft opening for the permanent location at Steel Tank Brewing is planned for the end of December or the beginning of January. Even with a permanent location, Kahle said, the food truck will still be out in the Lake Country and Waukesha areas.

"We'll primarily be in Oconomowoc, but the goal is still to run the food truck, depending on staffing," Kahle said. "My plan is to have the food truck out still weekly."

The food truck menu will be offered at Steel Tank Brewing, but Kahle said he will expand on the menu as well.

"We'll be adding appetizers, chicken wings, french fries and we plan to bring in a fish fry on Fridays," Kahle said. "I understand you can't make everybody happy, but I want to try to have something on the menu people want to come for and try something different and be happy with the purchase."

In November Dave Baron and Radosevich announced they would open Steel Tank Brewing Co., a 4,500-square-foot taproom in the former Hops & Leisure. The two began brewing in a garage and have searched for more than three years for a permanent location.

Baron and Radosevich have been contract brewing at Brewfinity, their neighbor brewery in Oconomowoc. They plan to continue contract brewing while serving their beers on tap until they can get their own equipment in place at the Robruck Drive site.

Steel Tank plans to open with 22 beers on tap. Currently it brews India pale ales, amber, Oktoberfest, pale ale, kolsch, pilsner, Hefeweizen, brown ale, porter, Vienna lager, Scotch ale and an oatmeal coffee stout.
