NourishCo expands the functional beverages category by launching Tata Coffee Gold - ETRetail

Expanding the functional beverages category, Tata Consumer Product's NourishCo has recently forayed into the cold-brew coffee segment with the launch of Tata Coffee Gold, a ready-to-drink coffee, Vikram Grover, MD, NourishCo Beverages Limited, Tata Consumer Products told ETRetail.

Priced at Rs 125 per bottle, the coffee is available in three flavors - classic, hazelnut, and mocha.

"At present, the ready-to-drink cold coffee segment is estimated to be worth Rs 200-300 crore. The RTD coffee market in India has just begun to form and it still has reasonably less brands. We are eyeing to win in this category as we have already demonstrated success in the RTD space earlier," he stated.

"Our latest offering aims to redefine the coffee experience by delivering a unique blend that provides an instant coffee hit while maintaining a rounded taste without any bitterness," he added.

The company is following a similar asset-light and capital-light model for its cold-brew coffee as it follows for its other products under its portfolio.

"The manufacturing of the cold-brew coffee is done by third-party. We have a co-packer in Noida who is manufacturing the product for us, which is then getting shipped to pan India along with our other brands in the premium portfolio like Himalayan," he said.

The company closed the last fiscal with net sales of Rs 621 crore and is eyeing to close this fiscal at Rs 1,000 crore, ETRetail reported earlier in April.

"Till now, we've been able to unlock profits by creating a GTM. We've been able to cover a fair distance as we've got a portfolio of products that are differentiated and are very relevant for today's and tomorrow's consumers and we are hopeful that the same strategy will work for the cold-brew coffee as well," he said.

Talking about the opportunities ahead, he said, "We see big opportunities in the functional beverages space, portfolio expansion and innovation, and distribution. Tapping into these opportunities will provide us with endless headroom for growth."

The company portfolio comprises of brands like Himalayan, Tata Gluco Plus, Tata Copper Plus, and Tata Fruski and has a presence in around 7,00,000 outlets.
